Tony Plana was born José Antonio Plana in Havana. His family fled to Culver City, California. He has played leading and supporting roles in over seventy films, from An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) to Picking Up the Pieces (2000) with Woody Allen. He also played Rudy in Zoot Suit (1981) in Los Angeles, and of the patriarch Ignacio Suárez in Ugly Betty (2006).
